No Surprises Act
The Federal No Surprises Act
Beginning January 1, 2022, the Federal “No Surprises Act” came into effect. This Act is intended to prevent “surprise billing” and surprise “balance billing” (when patients must pay the portion of a bill that their insurers do not pay) and to increase transparency on provider pricing.
Details for our patients can be seen on these two documents:
- Your Rights and Protections Against Surprise Medical Bills
Appendix A – Disclosure Notice Regarding Patient Protections Against Surprise Billing - You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost
Appendix B – Notice of Right to Receive a Good Faith Estimate of Expected Charges Notice
